Hello!
My name is Ron McIntyre and I am a UX designer with a unique background in industrial design.
I have over 10 years of experience designing everyday products from furniture to pharmaceutical packaging. While I’ve enjoyed my time in industrial design, I made a career change due to my fasci- nation with UX design and the innovative technologies that are taking place in the field. I decided to educating myself with a series of online courses and become fluent in UX design tools such as Fig- ma, Sketch, Invision and Axure. Seeing a lot of opportunities in UX as a contractor, I created my own company to start doing freelance work in UX. Picking up contract gigs where I could, it did not take long for me to be hired full time at TURN5, a ecommerce website designated to the retail of after market vehicle upgrades. During this start, it became clear there are many design process parallels between industrial design and UX. User centered design achieved by proper research, concepting, prototyping and testing are the same principles I have followed during my 10 years as an industrial designer. My process has always used empathy to make the product intuitive and to create a form that is aesthetically pleasing and functional. This is a foundation that can be applied to all careers in design.
While I may have an unorthodox background compared to other UX designers, I am confident that I can bring a fresh and unique perspective to this position.
Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon!
