The Introduction
Rainy Day Boxes is a website where users can purchase curated gift boxes for loved ones experiencing grief. Each box would be paired with a sympathy card related to the gift and intended to make the loved one feel supported and encouraged.
The Problem
The creators of Rainy Day Boxes were receiving multiple requests asking if it was possible to create a custom box so that the users could pick specific items for their loves ones. However, the boxes already had a set price and they did not have a solution to easily allow users to create there own box.
The Process
The Solution
A very simple approach was chosen to move forward with. It took the users and average of 29 seconds less time to create their custom box then with other iterations. The new design splits the custom creation into 2 phases. Stage 1 allows the user to select the topic of their sympathy card. Stage 2 allows the user to select multiple gifts to add to their box.

The Conclusion
Just because it is a complex problem doesn't mean the answer needs to be. In this instance a very obvious solution turned out to be the quickest and most efficient method for users to create their custom boxes with Rainy Day Boxes
